About Me

Emerson Deschene

Hello! My name is Emerson. I am an 18-year-old high school student, born and raised in Rhode Island. I've always been passionate about leadership. In my first year of high school, I made an action plan to present to my superintendent outlining how I planned to make our schools more environmentally friendly, and we have certainly done so since then. I am the Vice-Chair of the RIDE student advisory board, where I work with many remarkable students to enforce positive change in Rhode Island schools. After attending the HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership) World Leadership Congress in Chicago this summer, I was moved to help support women's access to education. Many remarkable women have influenced me personally, and I know firsthand how they have been discouraged by education systems around the globe. I hope that we, as an organization, can turn the tide for women's access to education.
